Bomkai Silk Sarees
Photo Curtsey: Adi Mohini Mohan Kanjilal
Bomkai Saree was first originated in the village of Bomkai in Ganjam
district of Orissa. Bomkai Sarees are
intricately woven on a pit loom with low count silk/cotton yarn. Bomlai Sarees
are also known as Sonapuri Sarees and is available in cotton and silk fabrics. Here
we are showing only silk sarees. The borders of these sarees are often in
contrasting colours and the pullus marked by intricate tread work.
The
motifs on the Bomkai Sarees are inspired from nature and tribal art, giving the
saree a fascinating look that makes it perfect for aristocracy.
A
Bomkai Silk Saree is largely worn by Kathak dancers around the world.
So beautiful! These colours are lovely.
