Baluchari Saree
Baluchari
Saree is worn by across India and Bangaladesh. This is famous for depictions of
mythological scenes on the pallu of the saree. The designs are mainly from
Ramayana and Mahabharata. Mythological stories also taken from the walls of the
temples. It was originated at Baluchar village in the Murshidabad distict of
West Bengal, India. But presently these sharees are produced only at Bishnupur
in the Bankura district of West Bengal. These sarees are worn as a sign of aristocracy
and status. Mainly used at party and wedding.
